One of our biggest passions is to work with children in wheelchairs and their families. We love to provide them with the vacation of a lifetime with the opportunity to surf in the warm waters of Costa Rica. From its inception, special features were incorporated into the hotel to enable wheelchair access to the property, the villas, and the communal dining area. Our thought was - parents of a disabled child have an endless task as the primary caregivers and in many cases have never been on a vacation, let alone taken a vacation outside the US. So, we decided to build a place where we could host the families and take on a caregiving role with the children; teaching them how to surf, and engaging in other activities with them including swimming, playing at the beach, going on nature rides, and exploring the coast... while the parents relax, unwind, and enjoy themselves, knowing their child's special needs are being taken care of. In this way, it is our hope that the whole family has a blast and enjoys all of the many great things Costa Rica has to offer!

OHG only runs week-long camps at selected times throughout the year. Shaka graciously donates the use of the resort and its staff during these surf camps to support the ongoing efforts of OHG.
